How The Build Process Works
|
"These projects aren’t for everyone—and they’re not meant to be."
I partner with clients who share a deep respect for motorsport heritage and design. If you’re looking to bring a historically significant car back to life—one that shaped an era, turned heads, or defined a marque’s legacy—then we may be aligned. While my true love lies in the post war mechanical purity and designs of the 1950’s-60’s, I welcome other interesting and compelling challenges that excite me. Be it a race car, a prototype that never made it to full reality, an obscure and forgotten beauty, or even a modern vision imagined in AI. If it deserves to be real... let’s talk. If a project idea resonates on both sides, and fits within the spirit of what I build, a moderate deposit secures your place in the queue. When your build slot arrives, your project receives my full attention —it's the only car I work on until completion. We stay in constant communication, and you receive regular updates throughout the process. Key decisions are shared, reviewed, and refined together to ensure the result reflects your vision as much as my craft. |

What's the Process?
If personalities and your dream project resonate on both sides, a realistic timeline and budget is discussed.
As the owner of the final vehicle, you must check and understand your local laws regarding importing and driving a handmade vehicle in your respective country/state.
Engagement- A build contract is then signed to mutually protect and serve both parties, a payment schedule is decided, and a moderate deposit secures your place in line, with communication and updates as the start date approaches.
When your build slot arrives, a deposit is taken to begin acquiring major materials and begin work.
Your project then receives full attention until completion. We stay in constant communication, and you receive regular photo and video updates throughout the process.
Key decisions are discussed, reviewed, and refined together to ensure the result reflects your vision as much as mine.
A full build from scratch to completion can take anywhere from 1 to 3 years depending on complexity.
I work predominantly from photos and by eye. I am blessed with an eye and mind that are capable of envisioning and transforming an image into a life-size three-dimensional working reality, much like a sculptor and artist. Blueprints can be a helpful guide, but I shape mostly by eye.
Bodywork- Using as many reference photos as are available and with any known key dimension, I begin by carving EPS (Styrofoam) into a detailed life-sized vehicle exterior. This becomes the basis for creating negative molds, which are then used to create final hand laid carbon-fibre or fiberglass panels. Each panel is then fine-tuned to mate together correctly. This is all completed in-house.
Suspension geometry- Based on the cars desired use and purpose, suspension geometry is discussed and designed using CAD to best suit those goals before being fabricated in house.
Wiring and ECU- Wiring harnesses, ECU and dyno tuning is outsourced to a local professional automotive electrician and tuner, with whom I maintain a positive trusted relationship.
Wheels, tires and glass- Correct wheels, tires and glass make or break a design or recreation. Exhaustive research is done to source and acquire appropriate wheels, tires and glass.
Paint and upholstery- Based on detail and intricacy, finishing details such as paint and upholstery can be done by me personally, or out-sourced to trusted local professionals with whom I maintain trusted and positive relationships.
Upon completion, the vehicle goes through a ‘shake down’ period to work out any bugs and ensure it is ready for delivery, as well as receive a professional photography session.
Myself and the client then work together to facilitate the exciting delivery of your new dream car.
